This role will provide you with the opportunity to initiate, plan, develop, promote and supervise programs and activities that address the needs of young people from the Mosman Municipality and who access the Mosman Youth Centre.

What You’ll Be Working On  

Take your next step with a highly regarded Youth Service. Mosman Council is looking for a passionate Youth Programs Officer who has a focus on empowering young people using initiatives that build their skills, voice and purpose.

Reporting to the Team Leader Children and Youth, you will be responsible for a range of programs including but not limited to:

  • Youth leadership, advocacy and skill development initiatives working with a diverse range of youth volunteers and youth participants.
  • Creating and coordinating youth volunteering opportunities that build skills, confidence and pathways into community life.
  • Wellbeing and recreation programs and events in collaboration with community stakeholders and in consultation with young people.
  • Maintaining operations and promotion of daily activities in a Drop In centre setting that provides a safe, welcoming space where young people feel connected and included.
  • Sector support and collaborative projects with the wider Lower North Shore Youth Interagency and partners in the region. 

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

To be successful in this role you will have tertiary qualifications (or be working towards) in Youth Work, Social Sciences or related discipline or demonstrated equivalent experience in related field.

You will have high level experience with creative programming for and supervision of young people. You bring an ability to build and sustain professional relationships with young people, ensuring programs are co-designed with their input and reflect their diverse needs and interests.

You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.

In addition to the above, you will also hold a valid First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.

The position is identified as a Child-Related position under the Commission of Children and Young People Act 1998 and the successful candidate is required to hold a valid Working With Children Check.

This position is subject to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check undertaken by Council.
