We are an innovative and progressive lower north shore Council with a rich history dating back to the 1890s and many heritage-listed sites. With an abundance of amenities and attractions, this area has something to offer everyone.
We are a smaller Council, offering diverse and rewarding work. As a Library Assistant, you will be part of a small but ambitious Council, supporting our greatest asset - our community.
You will deliver friendly and helpful customer service to the library’s customers, including assisting customers to access library resources, technology, and online platforms.
Why You’ll Like Working Here
At Mosman Council, we are committed to our community and its environment and provide our employees with the same level of commitment and care.
As a close-knit team, you will experience a connected and supportive environment.
The team you will join is welcoming and knowledgeable and ready to collaborate to continually improve our systems and processes.
We are proud to be recognised as a leading employer, having recently won the Xref 2025 Best Workplace Award and the Xref 2025 Change Champion Award, which celebrate excellence in people management and positive workplace transformation.
What You’ll Be Working On
You’ll be part of a dynamic, community focused team. As a library assistant you’ll deliver friendly, high-quality customer service and help create a welcoming and inclusive environment. You’ll help customers access the library’s collections including online resources and assist customers to navigate library systems and technology.
Your days will be varied and rewarding; processing and shelving items, keeping our spaces tidy and inviting and supporting events and programs that bring people together.
What You’ll Bring to the Role
With a Higher School Certificate or equivalent, you will have a community focus with experience in customer service and good computer literacy skills.
We would love to hear from candidates who have previous library experience, and who can work Tuesday and Thursday evenings 5.00-9.00pm and one weekend day per week.
You will also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to manage your time effectively.
The position is identified as a Child-Related position under the Commission of Children and Young People Act 1998 and the successful candidate is required to hold a valid Working With Children Check.
