  • Total package for 21 hrs/week from $50,917 to $63,332 pa including superannuationfull time equivalent $95,045 to $118,220 pa including superannuation

As a Work Health and Safety (WHS) and Wellbeing Advisor you will be part of a small but ambitious Council, supporting our greatest asset- our staff.

What You’ll Be Working On 

 Reporting to the Manager, People and Culture and as part of a small team of 5, this is a standalone role, with adequate support and strategic direction provided. 

 Key responsibilities include:  

  • Provide WHS advice on risk mitigation strategies, continuous improvement and compliance requirements to managers, supervisors and staff  

  • Coordinate, develop, implement and monitor Councils WHS policies, procedures and safety management systems 

  • Support staff with safety inspections and incident investigations, identifying trends and root causes, and recommending improvements and corrective actions  

  • Coordinate Council’s Health and Safety Committee, critical incident response and first aid and fire warden training  

  • Support return to work and injury management programs  

  • Drive WHS and Wellbeing initiatives promoting a proactive and positive safety culture across Council 

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role   

  • Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety with experience across WHS and Wellbeing policy development, compliance, implementation and monitoring 

  • Strong  knowledge of WHS legislation and codes of practice, with the ability to apply these effectively in a Council context 

  • Subject matter expert in WHS, confident in leading and promoting a positive safety culture including ongoing education for staff and managers 

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining strong attention to detail 

  • Skilled in WHS reporting, anaysing trends and issues, and presenting data and insights in clear professional formats  

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with sound judgment and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
