The Opportunity

As Director Corporate Services and Public Officer, you will join Council’s Executive Team working closely with the recently appointed General Manager. Leading an experienced team across Finance, Information Technology, People and Culture, Governance and Risk, and Customer Experience, you'll manage operating budgets of $10.3 million and drive strategic priorities including:

  • Technology as strategic enabler – championing digital capability and exploring emerging technologies, including AI, to enhance service delivery
  • Customer experience evolution – shifting from transactional service to sophisticated Customer Experience design aligned with MOSPLAN's commitment to service excellence
  • Integrated Planning and Reporting leadership – strengthening Council's IP&R framework to support long-term strategic direction
  • Innovation and continuous improvement – advancing organisational capability while building collaborative change management practices

This role offers genuine influence in shaping corporate strategy within a financially secure organisation that values progressive thinking and measured innovation.

 

About you

You're a senior executive with NSW local government experience and knowledge of the sector's legislative framework and Integrated Planning and Reporting requirements. Your career demonstrates advanced leadership capability in motivating high-performing multidisciplinary teams, with a proven track record of providing strategic advice in politically complex environments involving elected officials and members of community.

You bring strong financial literacy and governance expertise. Formal accounting qualifications aren't essential, but you understand financial management at a strategic level. As a change leader, you've driven innovation while bringing people on the journey, balancing ambition with the reality of building capability and fostering collaboration. Your excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills enable you to navigate complex organisational and political dynamics with confidence.
