We are a smaller Council, offering diverse and rewarding work. As a Casual Children and Youth Services Assistant, you will be part of a small but ambitious Council, supporting our greatest asset- our staff.  

This role will provide you with the opportunity to utilise your skills in the Children and Youth Services team to support the facilitation of high-quality programs and events in accordance with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.

What You’ll Be Working On  

  • Supporting the delivery of Council’s children and youth programs, helping to create safe, welcoming and high-quality activities for children and young people.
  • Working alongside a supportive team to help plan, set up, run and reflect on programs and events.
  • Engaging positively with children, young people and families, responding to their needs and providing appropriate information or referrals when required.
  • Helping to create inclusive, engaging and developmentally appropriate spaces where children and young people feel safe, supported and connected to their carers and community.
  • Following child safe, confidentiality and professional practice requirements at all times.

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role 

You will bring qualifications or are currently studying in fields relevant to working with children and/or young people and the community.

You will have demonstrated experience working with children and/or young people in a professional context.

In addition to the above, you will also hold a current first aid certificate.

The position is identified as a Child-Related position under the Commission of Children and Young People Act 1998 and the successful candidate is required to hold a valid Working With Children Check.
